A new licence is the earliest public sign a daycare exists — often before it has a website or a waitlist. A status change to Inactive is just as useful: it flags a facility that may have closed, so parents don’t chase a centre that is no longer operating. Both come from the province’s own register, not hearsay.

Toronto Public Health refreshes its ChildCareSafe™ infection control inspection results daily, and we re-pull it every refresh run, so a newly published Toronto inspection shows up here within a day. Ontario’s licensed-child-care register moves far more slowly — the province republishes it roughly monthly — so licence adds and status changes appear whenever a fresh provincial snapshot lands.
Three things, all taken straight from the official datasets — we don’t infer any of them. A new inspection result is an infection control inspection Toronto Public Health has newly published for a licensed centre. A registry add is a newly licensed daycare appearing in the provincial register. A licence status change is a facility moving between Active and Inactive — most often a closure or termination.
A licence can go inactive when a facility closes, relocates, or its licence is terminated or not renewed. The dataset records a closure or termination date, which we show. Always confirm a facility’s current status directly before relying on it.
